The Ferrandes Family, of Spanish descent, moved to Pantelleria in the 15th century and has grown “Zibibbo” grapes
since then. With passion and determination, the island is extremely windy and vines are grown in holes for protection.
The favorable climate, the generous fertility of the volcanic soil and the careful craftsmanship in processing allow obtaining particularly high-quality products such as capers, raisins and the Passito of Pantelleria. The grapes are sun dried before pressing. The fermentation and aging are conducted in tanks for a period of 12 months. This is the oenologist Salvo Foti consulting that ensures oenological followed.
The vineyard is located on the island of Pantelleria, between Sicily and Tunisia. This land is subject to a humid climate
with rich volcanic soil mineral as well as silica material. Passito is produced with the grape MUSCAT Alexandria or
Zibbido (meaning "dry grapes"). The vines are rooted in a terraced vineyard, surrounded by ripe, intended to protect
them from the wind. Here, it blows 321 days a year!
